Opera Theatre of the Rockies presents Verdi’s Aida on May 10, 12 and 13, 2018. Toast Opera Theatre’s 20th Anniversary at a festive Champagne Gala Celebration with fun and food on May 10 at 5:00 pm, in the magnificent Betty and Murray Ross Ent Center Lobby before the opening night performance. Opera Theatre’s Aida is the first opera offered in the Shockley-Zalabak Theater, and is presented by Season Sponsor, The El Pomar Foundation.

Richard Strauss’s tour de force Ariadne auf Naxos tells the story of a wealthy man who has assembled two groups of performers at his ranch – a group of opera singers preparing for a serious opera, and a troupe of comedians scheduled to perform an Italian comedy. As time grows short, the patron demands that the opera and the comedy be performed together, leading to an array of unexpected – and ultimately very satisfying – results.
