All the world’s a stage…

Dramatic soprano, Carolyn Hoehle, brings a powerful, expressive instrument and magnetic stage presence to the operatic stage, with recent work spanning in the United States and Germany.

In 2026, Carolyn made her German debut as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar. Previously an Artist-in-Residence with Austin Opera, her assignments included Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), covering the title role in Turandot, and appearing as a featured recitalist and outreach artist.

Her operatic repertoire spans roles including: Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Gertrude/Mutter (Hänsel und Gretel), Aida (Aida), Desdemona (Otello), Micaëla (Carmen), and Madame Lidoine (Dialogues of the Carmélites). Additional roles of note includes: Elettra (Idomeneo), Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), High Priestess (Aida), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), Susannah (Susannah), and Lady Billows (Albert Herring). Her musical theatre and operetta credits include: Mother Abbess (The Sound of Music), Carlotta (Phantom), Jack’s Mother (Into the Woods), The Narrator (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), and Katisha/Kate E. Shaw (The Mikado).

Currently based in Philadelphia, PA, Carolyn is building an increasingly international career, with a particular focus on developing connections and opportunities within the German-speaking opera market. Whether performing opera, musical theatre, or in recital, she is drawn to work that puts storytelling at the center and creates space for the raw emotion, connection, and profound power that can only happen in a live performance.

Away from the stage, Carolyn can generally be found tending her garden, getting lost in the woods on a hike, plotting her next travel adventure, or attempting to recreate a memorable dish from her travels in the kitchen with a glass of wine in hand.
